Get those Secret Recipes!!!

I love hand written recipes- So for my bridal shower I wanted to mail everyone a recipe card and have them bring it to the shower filled out with their favorite recipe. I first needed a box to put the recipe cards in.............. another diy project!!! I will post the recipe cards as soon as i get them done! Here is how I made the box:

Supplies Needed:
- Recipe Box - I used a "Bare Elements" Sam Recipe Box (purchased @ Archiver's)
- Acrylic Paint - I used a Pearlescent White
- Sponge Paint Brush
- Spray Adhesive
- Decorative Paper
- Embellishments

Instructions:

- Paint your recipe box using your sponge brush. (I just painted to top/lid of the box)

- Cut decorative paper in squares to match the sides of the box.

- After paint is dry, spray the adhesive on the sides of the box where is paper will go.
*** The adhesive gets everywhere and is super sticky. Be sure to lay paper down when you do this step.****

- Apply the decorative paper to the sides of your recipe box- Do this quickly (while the adhesive is still sticky!!)

- After the adhesive is dry, apply your embellishments..... ( I actually hot glued an ornament I purchased at an after Christmas sale!)

There ya' go!!! Hope you like it!! For more DIY ideas- visit my blog regularly!!!

Will You Be My Bridesmaid??

I wanted the way I asked my bridesmaid's to be in my wedding to be very special! I got the crossword puzzle idea from a blogger on weddingbee.com a while back, and I made it my own!! When the girls received the puzzle in the mail they called right away screaming with excitement!! (My sister actually cried!!) They LOVED it!!! So here is how I did it!!

Supplies Needed:
- (2) Pearlescent 5" x 7" sheets of cardstock
- Decorative Cardstock or Paper cut at 3" x 5"
- Coordinating Ribbon
- Eyelet (you can get them at any scrapbooking or hobby store)
- Crop-a-dile (to secure the eyelet)
Instructions:
- Start by printing the Bridesmaid's name on the 1st 5" x 7" piece. I used Microsoft Word and typed the text and aligned it all the way to the right.

- After that is printed, adhere the decorative paper or cardstock to the other side of the printed paper.

- Tie a ribbon where the 2 papers overlap.
~~~~ 1st part is done~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- I went to www.crosswordpuzzlegames.com/create.html and created my own crossword puzzle. You need clues for each word in the phrase "Will You Be My Bridesmaid?"
Example: for "Will", I put "_____ & Grace" and for "You", I put "It's not me it's ____" and so on...
- Copy and Paste the crossword puzzle with the clues on a Word Document
- Under the puzzle and the clues, I put ........
"Put them in order....#3__ __ __ __ #2 __ __ __ #4 __ __ #5 __ __
#1 __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __?
(Or whatever order your puzzle puts the words in)
- Take the "clean" 5" x 7" cardstock piece and print out
- Join the two together with an eyelet using a crop-a-dile.
******* If you do not have a crop-a-dile, you can use a brad!!!!
That's it!! Hope you like it!
How did you ask your bridesmaids to be in your wedding?
Well, my wedding is a whole year away, but I wanted to get started early! With 600 people invited I cannot spend a fortune on thank you notes, so I decided to make my own! Here are the steps I took to make this thank you note:
- Cut a 8 ½ x 11 piece of white cardstock in half
- Use a “score-it” or a bone folder to make a center crease for the thank you note. *( I personally like the score it to make the crease, and the bone folder to reinforce the fold. The “score-it” really makes a clean line!
- Stamp the card with any “Thank You” stamp. You can find them at any craft store. The clear stamps work better because you can see where you are stamping, and if it straight.
- Cut your decorative paper to size…. I cut my cardstock : 4 ¼” x 2 ¾”
- Use double sided tape to secure the cardstock to the bottom of the thank you card. Double sided tape works so much better than the expensive scrapbook adhesive…
- Use an x-acto knife to cut a slit on the side of the card to feed your ribbon through
- Feed the ribbon through and tie in a knot…. Cut the excess on the edges!!!
Hope you love them!!! I do!!!
You can find envelopes online in bulk. I’ll comment on my post and let everyone know where I go mine from- I didn’t pay very much!!
Matching Save the Dates are Coming soon!!!
My future Husband- The WONDERFUL Mr. Jackson!
I met Justin a little over 4 years ago, and we hit it off from the start. We are total opposites but we make an awesome pair! He is super ambitious; I'd rather stay at home and scrapbook. He likes to leave his clothes on the floor; I am a super organized freak. He can put together and fix ANYTHING; I stuggle even if I have super detailed instructions..... He is just so great!! A couple of months ago he proposed and it was truly a "fairy tale" story....
It all started on the morning of Friday, October 23rd, 2009. As I was returned home from work on my birthday, Justin nervously greeted me at the door with both hands behind his back. He asked to pick the hand that contained my birthday gift. As I selected his left hand, I received a travel guide to Paris, France. Quite puzzled over the gift, he then asked me to select his other hand. His right hand contained another travel guide to Rome, Italy. I then stood there completely puzzled, and Justin just smiled and said, “Pack your bags, we are leaving at three o’clock today!”
We landed in Paris on Saturday morning and explored the beautiful sites of the city. On Sunday, October 25th, we toured the Palace of Versailles. Justin and I arrived early and had plenty of time to look at the King’s extraordinary gardens. I was immediately captured by the beauty of the Grand Canal! I had no idea that within a few short hours that my life would change forever within this beautiful setting.
After touring the Palace and walking the vast gardens, Justin was very persistent on taking a rowboat ride with just the two of us down the Grand Canal. At first, I was worried (I'm a little clumsy), however after a little coaxing, we were on our way. The rowboat ride was very romantic as we were surrounded by swans and mallard ducks. With the palace in the background in a “fairy tale” setting, Justin selected the perfect moment and asked me to be his wife. I immediately responded “Yes!” What a spectacular moment!!
Our adventure continued for the next 3 days in Rome. We toured the Vatican, the Colosseum , and the ancient Roman Ruins. These spectacular sites are something we will never forget. We returned home on Friday taking with us the memorable moments of our engagement.
I love telling our story! He is such an amazing man!!
